On the subject of recruitment. Wording is massively important and it applies in evaluation too. One thing I stated doing after hearing from a woman explain what other companies did, is get the person receiving the CV’s to remove age, marital status and gender from the CV before passing it on to whoever is doing the interview. That was a simple but excellent suggestion. None of those are important when recruiting for a tech role. Whilst this does not remove bias completely, it at least improves the chance of getting women through the door on merit.
I haven’t done enough of those interviews to get a credible enough set of data points, so when I get them, I’ll publish them but would be interested in other approaches folk find work.
